About BTC DCA Engine

Historical dollar-cost-averaging simulator — who publishes it, where every figure comes from, and what it does not claim.

BTC DCA Engine is a historical dollar-cost-averaging simulator, built and run by Jon Phillips, founder of Matchless Web Studio LLC, a web development studio in Mississippi.

The articles are published under the site's name rather than his. Where one of them says "I", that is Jon — he built the engine, chose the rubric, and ran the checks.

Why it exists

Every Bitcoin calculator he could find showed Bitcoin against Bitcoin. What the same money, on the same schedule, would have done in a house, in gold, in the S&P, in a 3% CD — nothing would tell you. So he wrote the engine, sourced the data himself, and published how all of it works.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Every figure on this site is computed from daily closes and public index data — Bitcoin back to 17 September 2014, US house prices from FRED, inflation from the BLS CPI-U retrieved via FRED — and the sources page names every feed, its first reading and its refresh cadence, computed from the same files the simulator loads, while the knowledge base carries every rounding rule. If you cannot check a number published here, the job has been done badly.

The unflattering results get published too. Nvidia beat Bitcoin over the window this site measures most often. Roughly one in eight weekly-buy cohorts is underwater today. Buying daily instead of monthly changed the finishing figure by about one and a half percent — 4,487% against 4,557% — before the fees the extra four thousand transactions would have cost you. None of that helps sell anything, and all of it is true.

How the articles are made

They are measurements before they are articles.

Every figure in a field note is computed by this site's own engine from the daily closes named in the knowledge base, then frozen into a dated snapshot stored alongside the article. The numbers in the sentences and the numbers in the charts are read from that same snapshot, so a claim and the figure beneath it cannot disagree, and a nightly data refresh cannot move a published number underneath you. A figure carrying no as-of date does not build.

Where an article names another tool, the claim comes from having used it. The same plan is run through that tool's own interface and what it returned is recorded with the date it was checked — including for this site, which is one of the entrants in the calculator comparison and is scored against the same rubric as everything else in it. That rubric was written and committed before any tool was opened, and it is published in full: eight axes, four anchors each, and a fingerprint over the definitions, so an edit to any one of them is visible.

Before a note ships it is scored blind against two rival articles answering the same question, plus a deliberately hollow control written to look like an article and say nothing. All four are stripped of every brand and byline and shuffled into a different order for each of three passes, so no scorer can see which one belongs to this site. If this site's does not win under all three orders the result is void rather than close, and if the hollow control ever wins, the harness is broken and the run is thrown away.

Nothing here publishes itself. A note ships only when it is marked for publication by hand, and the front matter, every internal link and every generated page are checked against the built output before a deploy goes out. Jon is accountable for every number in them.

What this is not

Matchless Web Studio LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, commodity trading advisor, accountancy firm or law firm. Nothing here is advice. It is arithmetic on historical prices, and history is not a forecast.

Same money.
Same dates.
One axis.

Historical dollar-cost averaging on real closes. Not financial advice.
